Forces of globalization and development are shaping contemporary
societies. Women's role in every sphere of life is becoming more
significant than ever. In Malaysia women are not merely the beneficiaries
of development but more importantly as agents of change. In this
regards, women need to have the ability to make intelligent and
practical decisions. Those who are healthy physically, spiritually,
and emotionally are better able to make such decisions.
It
is in this light that the Ministry of Women, Family and Community
Development is organizing the 1st Women's Health and Lifestyle Exposition
2004, at the Putra World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. The event will
be held from the 8th - 10th October 2004, and will consist of exhibition,
health symposiums and medical screenings for women of all ages.
I
believe that it is never too late to adopt a healthy lifestyle no
matter what our age or stage of life. It is hoped that this event
will help to raise awareness of the society, particularly women,
on the importance of practicing healthy lifestyles, including on
the prevention of disease, risk factors, early detection and early
treatment, innovative products etc. I also hope that the event will
help to build self-empowerment for women to enable them to tap their
own personal power and their beauty to enhance and improve their
lifestyle for the pursuit of healthy families and healthy communities.
In this way, they are able to participate more effectively and meaningfully
in any decision that shapes and affects their health and their life.
I
look forward to welcoming all of you to participate and benefit
from the opportunities made available at the forthcoming event.
Best
Wishes and Stay Healthy.
